insurance claims

At SCT Auto Services, many of our clients appreciate that we provide not just car maintenance and repairs, but also comprehensive support for insurance matters. This allows us to assist them not only during routine servicing but also during critical moments when expert guidance is needed most.

Handling a car insurance claim can often be a stressful and confusing process, especially during an unfortunate situation no one wishes to encounter. Hence, we’ve outlined some key steps in the car insurance claims process below:

What to Do After a Motor Accident

  • Prioritize Safety
If possible, move your vehicle to a safe spot and turn on your hazard lights. Check for any injuries and call for medical assistance if required.

  • Exchange Information
Collect the following details from all parties involved:

    • Full Name

    • NRIC / FIN / Passport Number

    • Contact Details

    • Vehicle Number

    • Insurance Company

  • Document the Scene
Take clear photographs and videos of:

    • The accident scene and surroundings

    • Damage to all vehicles involved

    • Road conditions and traffic signs

    • Any visible injuries

  • Notify Your Insurer Within 24 Hours
Regardless of whether you intend to make a claim, you are required to report the accident to your insurer within 24 hours or by the next working day. Failure to do so may affect your coverage.

  • Proceed to an Authorised Reporting Centre or Workshop
Bring your vehicle to your insurer’s authorised reporting centre or approved workshop for assessment and reporting.

  • File a Police Report If Necessary
You must make a police report if:

    • There are injuries

    • The accident involves a hit-and-run

    • Government property is damaged

    • A foreign vehicle is involved

  • Work with Your Workshop / Insurer for Repairs
Your appointed workshop will handle the necessary repairs and claims process. They will also liaise with any third parties where applicable.
